The theme for our third day in New York was “classy”. After such a long day on Friday, we started a little slower today. After breakfast in the hotel, we caught a train down to Lincoln Square. We had hoped to surprise Jennifer with a tour of New York Ballet but found out it isn’t something they offered.

But, we were able to see the Juilliard School for the Arts. If you look closely, you can see some of the students at the barre upstairs taking class.

We saw the Metropolitan Opera and the outside of the New York City Ballet. Jennifer was in heaven. One of the things I found interesting was how just a 5-minute subway ride can make you feel like you are in totally different world. The Lincoln Square area had trees and birds (that aren’t pigeons) and a breeze. These are foreign objects down in Times Square. Pretty sure this was when Lauren and Jennifer began making plans to one day move here. lol.

We got back on the subway and took the train down to 5th Ave around Central Park. We walked through a small section of it and saw tons of people laying out getting some sun or playing in softball leagues. Everyone but me found a street vendor and had a little lunch. My stomach was in knots and I couldn’t bring myself to eat anything, but it smelled good.

By then it was time to head back and get cleaned up for Broadway! During the planning process, we knew we wanted to see a Broadway show but finding one that wouldn’t break the bank was tough. Lauren was able to get a great deal on tickets to see Chicago. I have seen the movie but the show was 10 times better. The music was great and there was much more humor than I expected.

That was where we met Joseph the usher. He was a show unto himself. I can’t really come up with a socially acceptable way to describe so I will just drop it. But, if you are ever at the Ambassador Theater on Broadway make sure you say hello.

After the show, it was time for the second major highlight of the trip. The plan for dinner that night was to head to the Flat Iron Building to a new restaurant called Fine & Rare. This is a Bourbon and Jazz club in a historic area near Madison Square Garden.

This dinner was simply amazing. The drinks were incredible and the jazz trio was on ???! I am not sure I have had another dinner like it. We hung out for a while, and as random as it sounds Matt and Lauren actually ran into a college friend there.

We hit a few more pubs before calling it a night!
