At one point during the kangaroo court that was Jesus’ arrest and trial, the Jews who had seized him refused to enter the house of a Gentile (non-Jewish person). Their reasoning? They didn’t want to become ceremonially unclean and thereby be prevented from partaking in the Passover meal and celebration.

“Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover.” John 18:28

So, just to be clear, it’s cool to trump up fake charges to have the world’s only perfect person tortured and murdered but entering the home of a person different than you is a no-no? That’s the deal breaker? Ok, got it.

While there is obviously a lot more going on here, one thing is for certain. Empty religiosity is more than just dead. It is evil. Something we need to be constantly on guard against.
